What to Expect in The Outrun?
“After more than a decade of living life on the edge in London, where she both found and lost love, Rona – now 30 – attempts to come to terms with her troubled past,” the official synopsis reads. “As she reconnects with the dramatic landscape where she grew up, memories of her traumatic childhood merge with more recent challenging events that have set her on the path to recovery.”
Besides Ronan, The Outrun stars Paapa Essiedu, Nabil Elouahabi, Izuka Hoyle, Lauren Lyle, Saskia Reeves, and Stephen Dillane.
The Outrun is directed by Nora Fingscheidt from a screenplay she co-wrote with Liptrot. Fingscheidt and Liptrot also have a story credit alongside Daisy Lewis. Producers include Ronan, Jack Lowden, Sarah Brocklehurts, and Dominic Norris.
The Outrun premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews, with many pundits predicting that Ronan will be in the running for Best Actress at the 2025 Oscars.
The Outrun is scheduled to be in the UK on September 27, 2024, and in Germany on November 7, 2024. It does not have a U.S. release date.
