Paul Mescal is being eyed to star in Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles movies.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mescal is currently being considered to star as one of the Fab Four in Mendes’ four Beatles movies.
Mescal made his professional feature film acting debut in Hollywood with 2021’s The Lost Daughter. He’s since starred in 2022’s Carmen, 2022’s Aftersun, 2023’s All of Us Strangers, and 2023’s Foe, while he’ll soon star alongside Denzel Washington and Pedro Pascal in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2, which releases in November 2024.
What are Sam Mendes’ Beatles movies?
In February 2024, Sony Pictures Entertainment announced that Mendes is collaborating with Neal Street Productions to create four separate movies about The Beatles. Mendes will direct all four movies, with each one following a specific band member’s point of view.
“I’m honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” Mendes previously said.
Mendes — known for directing 1999’s American Beauty, 2012’s Skyfall, 2019’s 1917, and more — is producing the films alongside Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor, while Jeff Jones serves as an executive producer.
Filming is expected to begin in 2025 in the United Kingdom, while all four movies will be released in 2027.
“We intend this to be a uniquely thrilling, and epic cinematic experience: four films, told from four different perspectives which tell a single story about the most celebrated band of all time,” Harris said. “To have The Beatles’ and Apple Corps’ blessing to do this is an immense privilege. From our first meeting with Tom Rothman and Elizabeth Gabler, it was clear that they shared both our passion and ambition for this project, and we can’t think of a more perfect home than Sony Pictures.”
