The Beverly Hills Cop 4 trailer reactions have seen a relatively warm reception from fans who are happy to see Eddie Murphy back as Axel Foley for the Netflix sequel titled Beverly Hills Cop Axel F.
The follow-up, coming thirty years after 1994’s Beverly Hills Cop 3, is directed by Mark Molloy for his feature film debut. The story comes from Will Beall, who co-wrote the screenplay with Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten. It will hit Netflix on July 3, 2024.
It sees Eddie Murphy reprising one of his most revered roles as Axel Foley, a destructive, wise-cracking detective who finds himself back in Beverly Hills and out to uncover a conspiracy behind threats on the life of his daughter, Jane (Played by Taylour Paige).
But Murphy isn’t the only returning name to the 90210 area. As the Beverly Hills Cop 4 trailer shows, Foley is joined by old favorites Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold). John Taggart (John Ashton), Serge (Bronson Pinchot), and Detective Jeffrey Friedman (Paul Reiser). The cast is rounded out by series newcomers Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Detective Bobby Abbott and Kevin Bacon as Captain Cade Grant.

If you haven’t seen Eddie Murphy back in action as Axel Foley, then why not head over to ComingSoon’s news on the Beverly Hills Cop Axel F trailer itself
While there’s a lot of cynicism surrounding revivals of long-dormant movie franchises these days, some reactions to the Beverly Hills Cop 4 trailer suggest the love for this series hasn’t worn off yet.
”Honestly, looks pretty good, an old fashioned 80’s style action film, and I am there for it.” a commenter remarked on the trailer. Fair enough, I say. That’s all I’d want from Beverly Hills Cop Axel F, too. Another commenter also had simple demands for the film.
”R rated. That’s all I needed to see.”
Seeing Eddie Murphy in a big action comedy movie again also does a great job of tugging on the nostalgia gland.
One comment on the trailer summed up their feelings for the reunion of beloved characters, ”Foley, Rosewood, and Taggart, all back together. Someone’s cutting onions, and they smell like the 80s.” I would assume this is a good thing. I like the smell of onions, but onions from the 80s might cause a different reaction than crying.
A common reaction on social media is how overjoyed people are that we are getting not only Beverly Hills Cop 4 but a Bad Boys 4, too! And within a few weeks of one another at that! It is understandable, if wild, to think that the Bad Boys franchise hadn’t even begun the last time Eddie Murphy played Axel Foley.
Of course, it was not all positive. Even with some being a bit surprised at Beverly Hills Cop Axel F looking decent, some understandably still found time to lament the movie’s lack of theatrical release.
