Johnny Depp’s return in future Pirates of the Caribbean films is highly anticipated by fans and many in the industry, including Jerry Bruckheimer. The franchise producer has even shared a positive update on whether Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow could be brought back in the upcoming Pirates reboot or the sixth installment.
Pirates of the Caribbean’s Jerry Bruckheimer ‘loves’ Johnny Depp and wants Jack Sparrow’s return
Bruckheimer recently expressed interest in bringing Johnny Depp back as Captain Jack Sparrow. While he didn’t confirm anything for the future, his reply showed his keenness to have the iconic pirate return for another outing.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Bruckheimer stated he “loves” Depp in the Pirates franchise. When asked about the possibility of him having a cameo in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean reboot, the producer said:
“If it was up to me, of course. I love having Depp. He’s a great actor and good friend . . . I’ve certainly spoken to him, but we’ll see what happens.”
Following Johnny Depp’s falling out with Disney after Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and his legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard, the actor initially denied returning for another movie in the franchise.
During his trial against Heard, he even agreed to his lawyer’s statement in court that he wouldn’t return even if Disney offered him “$300 million and a million alpacas.” However, a rumor in 2023 revealed that his stance has changed since then.
Bruckheimer has always maintained positivity around the actor’s potential return. However, there is no confirmation of his comeback yet. The previously revealed Pirates of the Caribbean reboot is said to have a new cast, which is yet to be announced. Ted Elliot and Craig Mazin are penning its script, but it doesn’t have a release window yet.
