Apartment 7A, a new film starring Julia Garner that serves as a prequel to Rosemary’s Baby, has been given a release date window.
Per Variety, Apartment 7A will premiere exclusively on Paramount+ this fall, before Halloween. An exact release date has not yet been set.
What do we know about Apartment 7A?
The movie is “set in 1965 New York City, and tells the story prior to the legendary horror classic Rosemary’s Baby, exploring what happened in the apartment before Rosemary moved in. When a struggling, young dancer suffers a devastating injury, she finds herself drawn in by dark forces when a peculiar, well-connected, older couple promises her a shot at fame.”
Garner for playing Ruth Langmore in Ozark and Anna Delvey in Inventing Anna. She’s also starred in movies such as 2012’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower, 2014’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, 2019’s The Assistant, and 2023’s The Royal Hotel. She’s additionally been taped to play a role in Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man and has also been cast as Silver Surfer in the MCU.
Along with Garner, Apartment 7A stars Dianne Wiest, Jim Sturgess, Kevin McNally, Marli Siu, Andrew Buchan, Rosy McEwen, and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith.
Apartment 7A is directed by Natalie Erika James, who is known for helming 2020’s Relic. The script was co-written by James, Christian White, and Skylar James, while John Krasinski, Allyson Seeger, Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller serve as producers. Vicki Dee Rock and Alexa Ginsburg are executive producers.
Rosemary’s Baby was released in 1968. Directed by Roman Polanski, the film starred Mia Farrow, John Cassavetes, Ruth Gordon, and Sidney Blackmer. Spawning a number of sequels and remakes, Rosemary’s Baby was preserved in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2014 for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” It is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Paramount+.
