Another Evil Dead movie is in the works, with Deadline reporting that Francis Galluppi (The Last Stop in Yuma County) had been tapped to write and direct the project.
The movie is said to be an original story and one that Galluppi developed himself and pitched to Sam Raimi and the team behind The Evil Dead. Currently, nothing is known about the plot or casting of the film, nor is it known who else will be involved in the production of the project.
This new Evil Dead movie will be different from the planned spin-off film that was reported to be in the works earlier this year. That project is set to be directed and co-written by Sébastien Vaniček and will be produced by Raimi and Robert Tapert’s Ghost House Pictures.
In a statement to Deadline on the news, Raimi said that Galluppi is a filmmaker who knows tension and control, and praised his ability to tell a story. Galluppi’s credits as a director include 2023’s The Last Stop in Yuma County, as well as the 2020 short film The Gemini Project.
“Francis Galluppi is a storyteller who knows when to keep us waiting in simmering tension and when to hit us with explosive violence,” said Raimi. “He is a director that shows uncommon control in his feature debut.”
