Avengelyne: Olivia Wilde, Simon Kinberg, & LuckyChap Adapting ’90s Comic

Another comic book movie adaptation is on the way, as Rob Liefeld’s Avengelyne will be getting a movie from Olivia Wilde.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be helmed by Wilde and produced by Simon Kinberg as well as Margot Robbie‘s production banner, LuckyChap Entertainment. There’s quite a bit of comic book adaptation experience between all these parties, with Robbie having played Harley Quinn in the DC Extended Universe and Kinberg having written several X-Men movies, including 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand and 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. He also produced adaptations like 2018’s Deadpool 2 and 2020’s The New Mutants.

The first Avengelyne comic, Avengelyne #1, was released in May 1995. The comic’s official synopsis describes the titular character as a “beautiful, red-headed, fallen angel from God’s Warhost who must live on Earth as a mortal and contend with the forces of Hell.” The character was created by Cathy Christian and Rob Liefeld, the latter of whom also co-created the iconic Marvel antihero Deadpool alongside Fabian Nicieza.

What was the most recent movie that Olivia Wilde directed?

Most recently, Wilde directed and produced the 2022 psychological thriller movie Don’t Worry Darling. In addition to Wilde, the film also starred Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, and Nick Kroll.
