Focus Features has set a release date for Conclave, the new film from All Quiet on the Western Front director Edward Berger.
Focus Features has announced that Conclave, which is directed by Berger, will be released in New York and Los Angeles theaters on November 1, 2024. The movie will then expand to more locations the following week, November 8, 2024.
What is Edward Berger’s Conclave about?
“From director Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front), Concalve follows one of the world’s most secretive and ancient events – selecting a new Pope,” the official synopsis reads. “Cardinal Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) is tasked with running this covert process after the unexpected death of the beloved Pope. Once the Catholic Church’s most powerful leaders have gathered from around the world and are locked together in the Vatican halls, Lawrence finds himself at the center of a conspiracy and discovers a secret that could shake the very foundation of The Church.”
Based on Robert Harris’ 2016 novel of the same name, Conclave’s screenplay comes from Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, American Animals).
Along with Fiennes, the movie stars Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, Lucian Msamati, Brían F. O’Byrne, Carlos Diehz, Merab Ninidze, Sergio Castellitto, and Isabella Rossellini.
Tessa Ross, Juliette Howell, Michael A. Jackman, Robert Harris, and Alice Dawson produced Conclave, while Steven Rales, Glen Basner, Alison Cohen, Milan Popelka, Ben Browning, Len Blavatnik, Danny Cohen, Zoe Edwards, Harry Dixon, Paul Randle, Tomas Alfredson, Edward Berger, Fiennes, Peter Straughan, Robyn Slovo, Mario Gianani, and Lorenzo Gangarossa served as executive producers.
In addition to 2022’s All Quiet on the Western Front, Berger previously directed 2019’s All My Loving and 2014’s Jack, while he’s also helmed episodes of AMC’s The Terror and Showtime’s Your Honor.
