The overall state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is mostly unknown in terms of what the future holds, but Iman Vellani believes her place in it is secure.
Speaking to Polygon ahead of the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, Vellani was asked about her role in the MCU as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. Vellani said that she’s been told things are fine on her end, but admitted she hasn’t been told much beyond that.
“I have been assured,” Vellani said. “So that feels good, but there was no more assurance than that. [laugh] They give me breadcrumbs, and I try and make a meal out of it.”
Vellani’s role as Ms. Marvel has been praised by fans
Vellani first appeared in the MCU as Kamala Khan in 2022’s Ms. Marvel, and also appeared alongside Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris in 2023’s The Marvels, a sequel to Captain Marvel. Fans have been receptive to Vellani’s turn as Khan, especially due to her being an outspoken fan of the world of Marvel as a whole.
While it’s unknown what the future holds for Vellani’s place in the MCU, one of the next films she could potentially appear in is 2026’s Avengers 5. Fans have also speculated that she could appear in 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars, as well as any potential Disney+ series. A second season for Ms. Marvel has not been confirmed as of this time.
