Following the theatrical debut of Dune: Part Two last Friday, it has been confirmed that Watchmen star Tim Blake Nelson’s mystery character didn’t make it into the final cut of the sequel.
In a recent interview with MovieWeb, Nelson shared his reaction to being cut from Dune: Part Two, admitting that he’s indeed “heartbroken” about it. However, the Captain America: Brave New World star clarified that he completely understand director Denis Villeneuve’s decision, revealing that he’s looking forward to their next project together.
“I don’t think I’m at liberty to say what the scene was. I’d leave that to Denis [Villeneuve] if he wants to talk about it,” Nelson said. “I had a great time over there shooting it. And then he had to cut it because he thought the movie was too long. And I am heartbroken over that, but there’s no hard feelings. I loved it, and I can’t wait to do something else with him and we certainly plan to do that.”
Who’s involved in Dune: Part Two?
Based on Frank Herbert’s classic sci-fi novel, Dune: Part Two was directed by Denis Villeneuve from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts. It stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Christopher Walken, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Léa Seydoux, Souheila Yacoub, and Anya Taylor-Joy.
“It will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family,” reads the synopsis. “Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.”
