Sony Pictures and Picturestart have won an auction for Yeti, a survival horror movie spec script from Peter Gaffney.
Yeti Plot Details
Yeti takes place deep in the mountains, where an avalanche unleashes something primeval from the glacial ice: a father and his daughter battle to survive a merciless predator who blends in with the snow.
According to Deadline, Erik Feig and Jessica Switch championed the project for Picturestart, and Brittany Morrissey spearheaded the deal for Sony. Verve held the auction and represented the writer. It’s the agency’s second material sale to Sony in a week after the Jason Shuman Ben Queen pitch; Cola Wars.
Gaffney previously sold a spec to Universal for Don’t Go Into the Water. The film will be produced by John Silk, who has been behind recent movies such as Nightride and The Black Demon. He is currently in post-production on Rosario by Felipe Vargas.
Yeti follows Sasquatch Sunset in bringing ape-like cryptids to the big screen in the near future. Fair to say, Yeti probably won’t be quite so surreal as the Ari Aster-produced movie set to debut at SXSW.
