A new set of photos for the upcoming remake of the 1989 classic Road House has been unveiled, showing Jake Gyllenhaal and UFC superstar Conor McGregor getting ready to rumble. The film is set to arrive on Prime Video on March 21, 35 years after the original film debuted in theaters.
The 2024 reimagining of Road House, which starred Patrick Swayze as John Dalton, features Gyllenhaal as mixed martial artist Elwood Dalton and McGregor — who will be making his acting debut in the upcoming movie — as Knox.
Now that the remake is looming closer on the horizon, TotalFilm has shared new stills from the upcoming movie showing a one-on-one fight between Elwood and Knox as well as individual photos of the two. You can check out the images down below:
What is the Road House remake about?
Directed by The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow filmmaker Doug Liman, the remake to the 1989 cult hit will see Gyllenhaal as a former UFC fighter who just landed a new job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys bar. However, he will soon find out that the tropical paradise where he works is not what it appears to be.
“In this adrenaline-fueled reimagining of the 80s cult classic, ex-UFC fighter Dalton (Jake Gyllenhaal) takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems,” the remake’s synopsis reads.
In addition to Gyllenhaal and McGregor, the upcoming film will also star Daniela Melchior as Elwood Dalton’s love interest, Ellie, and Billy Magnussen as the film’s villain, Brandt. The rest of the cast includes Darren Barnett, Lukas Gage, Joaquim de Almedia, Beau Knapp, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Kevin Carroll, J.D. Pardo, Arturo Castro, Hannah Love Lanie, Bob Menery, Jessica Williams, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, and Dominique Columbus.
Road House premieres on Prime Video on March 21.
