Coming off from winning his first SAG Award, Pedro Pascal finally addressed his recent casting as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic in Marvel Studios’ highly-anticipated Fantastic Four reboot.
Speaking with ET, Pascal expressed his excitement for the “unbelievable” opportunity to debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the Fantastic Four movie, which is slated to arrive in theaters on July 25, 2025.
“I can tell you how excited I am, which is beyond,” he shared. “There isn’t anything more exciting than being in a cast like that, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joe Quinn and our director Matt Shakman. To be invited to a family like that is unbelievable, and we all just want to do our best and share it with the world.”
Will Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four take place in the 1960s?
Besides Pascal, Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four will also be led by Vanessa Kirby (The Crown) as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) as Ben Grimm/The Thing. The official cast members were announced through a Valentine’s Day poster, which seemingly hinted that the the story might take place in the 1960s. The key-art also teased the appearance of the team’s trustee robot H.E.R.B.I.E.
The MCU reboot will be directed by WandaVision’s Matt Shakman from a screenplay being rewritten by Josh Friedman based on a draft from Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. The project was first teased by Kevin Feige during 2019’s San Diego Comic-Con, with Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts originally attached to direct.
