Another Round director Thomas Vinterberg has some opinions on Chris Rock looking to remake his Oscar-winning film.
Speaking to to Danish publication Ekstra Bladet, Vinterberg was asked about the project, and revealed that he was actually excited about what the iconic comedian might come up with for his remake. “The choice of Chris Rock is exciting. It’s exciting [to see] what he comes up with. I am full of good expectations,” said Vinterberg.
Vinterberg did have a joke about what would happen if the movie was bad, however.
“If it’s s***, he’ll get slapped again,” Vinterberg said, referencing the now infamous moment when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on stage at the 94th Academy Awards.
What is Another Round about?
In Another Round, four friends, all teachers at various stages of middle age, are stuck in a rut. Unable to share their passions either at school or at home, they embark on an audacious experiment from an obscure philosopher: to see if a constant level of alcohol in their blood will help them find greater freedom and happiness. At first they each find a new-found zest, but as the gang pushes their experiment further, issues that have been simmering for years come to a head and the men are faced with a choice: reckon with their behavior or continue on the same course.
The movie stars Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal, The Hunt, Doctor Strange), Thomas Bo Larsen (The Hunt, The Lawyer, Veni Vidi Vici), Lars Ranthe (A Funny Man, Adam’s Apples, The Hunt), and Magnus Millang (Heavy Load, The Commune, Danish Dynamite). The script was co-written by Vinterberg and Tobias Lindholm (The Hunt).
Another Round is directed by BAFTA nominee Thomas Vinterberg, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Tobias Lindholm. It is produced by Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Kasper Dissing for Denmark’s Zentropa Entertainment.
