Zac Efron is attached to star in the upcoming thriller Famous, where he’ll play two different roles according to a report from Deadline.
The film, which is directed by Jody Hill, will be brought out to buyers at the upcoming EFM. In the movie, Efron will star as two different roles, where he’ll play “overzealous fan” Lance Dunkquist as well as “Hollywood heartthrob” James Jansen.
The movie is based on the 2010 novel of the same name by New York Times bestselling author Blake Crouch and was adapted into a screenplay by Chad Hodge, who also helped Crouch adapt his Wayward pines trilogy into a television series.
What is Famous about?
Famous follows the story of superfan Dunkquist, who has a face extremely similar to that of Hollywood legend James Jansen. “Lance is about to travel to Los Angeles to make his dream come true. Lance is going to be famous, no matter what it takes,” reads the film’s logline.
Efron is coming off of perhaps his most well-received role in his Hollywood career with his portrayal of Kevin Von Erich in A24’s The Iron Claw. Up next, the actor will star in the comedy film Ricky Stanicky from Peter Farrelly as well as Richard LaGravenese’s romantic comedy film A Family Affair, both of which are scheduled to premiere in 2024.
