Jordan Peele’s Monkepaw Productions has reportedly teamed with Fresh Off the Boat star Randall Park for a historical genre movie.
Park Rides to Monkeypaw
Jeff Sneider broke the news and said that when he first heard about this project, it was described to him as a WWII movie about the Japanese Americans who fought for the U.S. fused with genre elements. Since then, however, Sneider has been informed that this may simply serve as an inspirational launching point for the project.
Park will reportedly co-write the project with producing partner Michael Golamco at Imminent Collision, which is also developing the project.
According to Sneider’s sources, Park could also direct the movie, but things are still a little too early in development with the movie for concrete confirmation.
Randall Park is best known for his TV and movie work in the likes of WandaVision, Veep, Young Rock, Always Be My Maybe, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. He made his directorial debut with the Sundance Film Festival entry Shortcomings last year.
Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions has been busy recently with Dev Patel’s Monkey Man getting rescued from the Netflix void and securing a director and star for the sports thriller GOAT.
Jordan Peele is currently working on his fourth feature film and collaborating with Hideo Kojima on the Xbox horror game OD.
