The cold-blooded killer version of Pooh will be returning to yet again ruin everyone’s childhood. Following director Rhys Frake-Waterfield’s promise to return with a “bigger and badder” sequel, Jagged Edge Productions has shared two new photographs from Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, highlighting the return of Christopher Robin and the grotesque titular character.
Aiming for a February 14, 2024, theatrical release, the newly released images offer audiences a taste of Pooh’s character makeover. The first installment, which graced limited theaters on February 13, 2023, was filmed on a considerably tight budget. While the project created quite a buzz online during its development, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey received mostly negative reviews, with some critics arguing that it is not a film one should bother watching.
However, despite unfavorable reviews, the movie managed to generate $5.2 million at the box office due to its interesting concept. Now that budget is no longer an issue, the new photos feature the killer bear with a more detailed and realistic look. According to previous reports, the new costume costs around $20,000. It is significantly higher compared to the first film’s $770 costume. You can check out the images below:
A few characters will join Pooh on his murderous rampage
Apart from Christopher Robin and Piglet’s parts in the upcoming slasher sequel, some known characters — albeit made terrifying — will also appear in the second film, including Owl and Tigger.
“Bigger and Badder. The sequel will feature new creature designs, a new cast, and a high death count. However, this time Pooh and friends will be leaving the 100 Acre Wood to take their fight to the quiet community of Ashdown,” Frake-Waterfield said in a statement (via BloodyDisgusting).
Written by Summer of 84’s scribe Matt Leslie, the sequel will star Tallulah Evans, Scott Chambers, Ryan Oliva, and Peter DeSouza-Feighoney. Of course, we still can’t assume how the film will fare despite the bigger budget, but you can check it out yourself when Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 hits theaters this year.
