Ryan Gosling is just Ken and he’s Kenough
Ronson and Wyatt wrote and produced “I’m Just Ken” for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. The song, which Gosling and a number of the other Kens sing near the end of the movie, quickly became a hit following the movie’s release, as it now has over 70 million streams on Spotify. “I’m Just Ken” has also been nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media for the upcoming 66th Annual Grammy Awards.
“It was never in the script [that] Ryan was going to sing,” Ronson previously told The Hollywood Reporter about creating the song. “It was just like, ‘If we’re going to have Barbie’s perfect day song, we need a song from Ken’s point of view.’ ”
Barbie is co-written by Gerwig and Noah Baumbach. Along with Gosling, the movie stars Margot Robbie, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, Will Ferrell, Emma Mackey, Alexandra Shipp, Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Ncuti Gatwa, Michael Cera, and Emerald Fennell.
Barbie is currently streaming on Max. The movie is also available to rent or purchase on various digital platforms.
