Kung Fu Panda 4 Cast: Viola Davis & Awkwafina Join DreamWorks Sequel

A new Kung Fu Panda 4 cast video has been released by DreamWorks Animation, revealing two big names who will voice characters in the movie.

The video features Jack Black preparing to call “the newest member of the Kung Fu Panda family.” The call is revealed to be with Viola Davis, who is playing the shape-shifting sorceress Chameleon. To show off her “shape-shifting” power, Davis disappears in a burst of smoke and becomes Awkwafina, who is also announced to be in the film.

When the sequel was originally announced, Black revealed the first details about the plot for Kung Fu Panda 4. According to the School of Rock star, the upcoming movie will see Po preparing himself to become the new spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace.

The Dragon warrior will also be training a new character named Zhen, a fox who is poised to become his successor. As for Kung Fu Panda 4’s villain, Black confirmed that it will be a Chameleon who has the ability to bring back past enemies.

Who is directing Kung Fu Panda 4?

Kung Fu Panda 4 is being directed by Mike Mitchell and co-directed by Stephanie Ma Stine. Rebecca Huntley is producing the sequel, which will star Jack Black, Awkwafina, Viola Davis, Dustin Hoffman, James Hong, Bryan Cranston, Ian McShane, and Ke Huy Quan.

The Kung Fu Panda franchise began in 2008, with the first film getting nominated for an Oscar Award for Best Animated Feature. It featured the voices of Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, Dustin Hoffman, James Hong, and Seth Rogen. Due to its success, it was followed by two more sequels in 2011 and 2016. The trilogy currently has a combined gross of over $1.8 billion at the worldwide box office.
