One of the most talked about cameos in DC’s The Flash was the return of George Clooney as Batman. At the end of the film, Clooney’s Bruce Wayne arrives at the courthouse to speak with Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen, replacing Ben Affleck’s version of the character on the timeline. But will Clooney return to the DC universe, or was this cameo a one-time thing?
What Did George Clooney Say About His Batman Cameo in The Flash?
While speaking at the premiere of his new film The Boys in the Boat on Monday night, Clooney confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that his return as the caped crusader was a one-off. Clooney joked that “there were not a lot of requests” for him to reprise his role as Batman. The Oscar-winning actor played Bruce Wayne in 1997’s Batman & Robin, widely considered one of the worst superhero films ever. Clooney never played Batman again until this cameo.
Clooney poked fun at the cameo with Entertainment Tonight, laughing at his controversial suit that included rubber nipples. However, Clooney enjoyed making a small homecoming to the DC Universe.
“It was fun to do because, you know, it was a bit,” Clooney said. “It was supposed to be funny.”
Clooney stepped behind the camera to direct The Boys in the Boat, a biographical sports drama about an underdog crew team that represented the United States in the 1936 Summer Olympics. The Boys in the Boat is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 25, 2023.
