The iconic Sundance Film Festival has unveiled its lineup for the upcoming 2024 rendition of the festival, and among the films entered are Love Lies Bleeding, a thriller starring Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian.
The film comes from Rose Glass, who will write and direct the film. According to the Sundance site, the film will tell the story of “reclusive gym manager Lou falls hard for Jackie, an ambitious bodybuilder headed through town to Las Vegas in pursuit of her dream. But their love ignites violence, pulling them deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family.”
A24 set to produce and distribute the thriller
A24 is set to produce the film, alongside Andrea Cornwell for Lobo Films and Oliver Kassman for Escape Plan Productions. The company will also handle the global release of the film, with Film4 having helped develop the film alongside the filmmakers and having co-financed the film with A24.
This will be Glass’ second feature, with Saint Maud premiering in 2019 before being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and eventually released in 2021. The film received massive praise upon its launch, however, and was seen as an overall success for a debut film.
Stewart’s most recently appeared in two films, 2021’s Spencer, which saw her play Diana, Princess of Wales, a role for which she earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Following that, she appeared in David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future.
Katy O’Brian is best known for her roles as Jentorra in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and has also starred in the hit Syfy series Z Nation, as well as Black Lightning and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. She also appeared in the second and third seasons of The Mandalorian as Imperial communications officer Elia Kane.
