Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown is set to star in dark fantasy movie Damsel, directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later). Based on a screenplay by Dan Mazeau, Netflix (via Total Film) has released a new image showing Brown’s Princess Elodie wandering off alone in the woods.
Just after the release of the official trailer last month, the streamer built up the excitement for the upcoming film with a new image highlighting the princess, who is not, by any means, a stereotypical damsel in distress. The movie is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2024.

What is Damsel about?
Damsel will chronicle the story of a young woman who agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find out she has been sacrificed to repay a debt. Left with nothing but herself, alone in a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she will do anything in her power in order to survive.
“A dutiful damsel agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. Thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her wits and will to survive,” the synopsis reads.
In addition to serving as the film’s main lead, Brown also executive produced Damsel through her PCMA Productions banner alongside Zack Roth, Chris Castaldi, and Wrath of the Titans scribe Mazeau.
Other cast members include Nick Robinson (Love, Simon), Angela Bassett (Black Panther), Ray Winstone (Sexy Beast), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Ulli Ackermann (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation), Elmano Sancho (Never Ever), and Shohreh Aghdashloo (Renfield).
