Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has revealed the truth about reports that Robert Downey Jr.‘s Iron Man would be resurrected in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As part of Vanity Fair‘s cover story about Downey Jr., Feige spoke about the process of starting the MCU with Iron Man and getting the actor on board. He then stated that, contrary to a recent report suggesting so, Tony Stark won’t be brought back to life.
“We are going to keep that moment and not touch that moment again,” Feige says. “We all worked very hard for many years to get to that, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.”
What did the report about Iron Man being revived in the MCU say?
At the beginning of November, a report from Variety said that Marvel Studios was considering making a movie starring the original members of the Avengers. This would have apparently seen Scarlett Johansson‘s Black Widow and Robert Downey Jr.‘s Iron Man revived after their deaths in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. With Feige saying Iron Man’s death will remain untouched, it seems this plan isn’t in the cards.
