It’s no secret that the stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe work hard to get superhero bodies to show off on the big screen. When it came to Ant-Man Paul Rudd‘s diet, though, he describes it as awful.
During a recent guest appearance on the Off Menu podcast (via The Hollywood Reporter), Rudd spoke with co-hosts Ed Gamble and James Acaster about his “dream menu” and revealed what type of water he likes. That led into discussions on his diet for playing Ant-Man, and just how “horrible” it was.
“When I was having to train for the Ant-Man movie, and I was on a very restrictive diet, my reward was sparkling water,” Rudd said. “That’s how horrible that diet was. I was like, ‘Alright, I’m gonna have some sparkling water now, I’ve earned it.’”
Rudd stuck to his diet for some time throughout his Marvel movie tenure
Rudd went on to note that he stuck to the diet for the most part throughout his training and prep for various Marvel movies, noting that “Once you’re in it, it’s actually not too hard,” and that it consisted mostly of “really boring food, every time, over and over again,” but it would leave him waking up with “tons of energy.”
The actor went on to joke that, while stars may talk about their diet and training sessions amongst each other, he thinks he was getting the worse results of them all.
“I mean, I think people kind of are,” he said. “But I also think I worked out harder than anyone, I would eat better than everyone, and I looked worse than all of them. I had to work out all the time, eat perfectly, just to look kind of bad. Not even like great.”
