Years after its initial announcement, it sounds like Lionsgate‘s live-action Naruto movie has found its writer.
In a Variety article about promising screenwriters, the outlet reported that Tasha Huo is set to write the live-action Naruto movie as her next project. Huo has previously written episodes of The Witcher: Blood Origin and an episode of Netflix’s upcoming animated video game adaptation Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft. She is also currently one of the writers on the upcoming Red Sonja movie.
The live-action Naruto movie was first announced back in 2015, though little substantial information about the project has been revealed in the years since.
When did Naruto first come out?
Naruto is a manga and anime series that was created by Masashi Kishimoto. The manga made its debut in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in September of 1999 and ran until November 2014.
The series follows the adventures of a young ninja named Naruto Uzumaki as he strives to become Hokage — the leader of his village — while battling enemy ninja and containing the powerful nine-tailed fox demon within himself. The series attained massive popularity around the world and has gone on to spawn several movies, video games, a wide range of merchandise, and more.
