The Babysitter 3 Receives Exciting Update

A third The Babysitter movie is still happening, according to director and producer McG. The hit Netflix 2017 comedy horror film — which spawned a second outing called The Babysitter: Killer Queen — might receive a third installment. The streamer, however, has yet to confirm.

In an interview with ComicBook.com — in support of his recent film Family Switch — McG stated he hasn’t given up a third installment.

“Yeah, we’re still talking about it,” said McG. “It was fun. The first movie, obviously, gave Samara Weaving to the world, and the second movie was Jenna Ortega. Hopefully we can answer the call and find a third star that reaches those lofty heights.”

The first two movies featured female leads who are already flourishing in their respective careers, so the actress who could potentially star in the third one will have to fill much larger shoes.

Samara Weaving, who appeared in the 2017 film as ruthless villain Bee, has been in the spotlight for quite some time. She’s had starring roles in Monster Trucks, Mayhem and Ash vs. Evil Dead, to mention a few. After her memorable role in The Babysitter, the actress went on to star in other features, including Ready or Not, Snake Eyes, and Babylon. Her television credits also include Hollywood and the Hulu miniseries Nine Perfect Strangers.

On the other hand, Jenna Ortega, who played Phoebe in the film’s second installment, has appeared in several films and television shows, such as X, Wednesday, and Scream. The actress recently left the Scream franchise due to “schedule conflicts,” just shortly after co-star Melissa Barrera was fired from Scream VII

The Babysitter was an unexpected hit for Netflix

When it comes to original films and television shows, the streaming platform has been hit or miss over the past years. The Babysitter, however, scored top marks. Critics were considerably kinder in comparison to other Netflix programming.

The Babysitter centers on the awkward 12-year-old Cole (Judah Lewis) who finds out his babysitter is a member of a satanic cult. Two years after Cole survived the one murderous night, The Babysitter: Killer Queen sees the character going face-to-face with the cult members once again.

The film series also stars Emily Alyn Lind as Melanie, Bella Thorne as Allison, Hana Mae Lee as Sonya, Andrew Bachelor as John, and Robbie Amell as Max.
