Neve Campbell has given her reaction to Scream VI.
Speaking at the 2023 Monster-Mania Con in a video uploaded to YouTube by Michael Covelli, Campbell divulged her thoughts on 2023’s Scream VI.
“I haven’t watched it until two weeks ago,” she said. “It took me a minute, I don’t know why. I actually thought they did a really good job. I think the cast are really powerful, wonderful actors. I don’t wish these movies ill will. I wanted the movie to be good. It’s not like I’m sitting at my house going, ‘I hope it sucks, I hope it doesn’t do well.’ I care about all the people involved. There’s someone at the top who only thinks about money, and that’s their prerogative, but for the rest of them? Everybody else? I care about these movies being good, and I care about that for you guys, too, because I know you guys love these films. I thought they did a great job.”

Why wasn’t Neve Campbell in Scream 6?
Released in March 2023, Scream VI marked the first Scream film not to star Campbell. Campbell initially expressed interest in starring in the film and, at one point, was approached to reprise her role as Sidney Prescott; however, she ultimately backed away from the project due to a pay dispute.
“As a woman, I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream,” Campbell said in June 2022 via Deadline. “I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise. It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You’ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years.”
She also told PEOPLE in August 2022, “As a woman in this business, I think it’s really important for us to be valued and to fight to be valued. I honestly don’t believe that if I were a man and had done five installments of a huge blockbuster franchise over 25 years, that the number that I was offered would be the number that would be offered to a man.”
Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet, Scream VI starred Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Hayden Panettiere, and Courtney Cox. The movie received generally positive reviews from critics and made $169 million at the worldwide box office off an approximate $35 million budget.
Scream 7 is now officially in the works and will be directed by Happy Death Day and Freaky’s Michael Landon.
