On November 5, 2023, the Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These anime series shared an exciting news to fans. It was announced on the fifth anniversary of the anime TV adaptation that a sequel series is officially in production. This epic tale boasts an impressive 15 million copies in circulation and has a Seiun Award for Tanaka. Not only that, Legend of the Galactic Heroes also spans ten main novel volumes along with four side-story volumes.

Directed by Shunsuke Tada under the banner of Production I.G, the anime TV series, titled Die Neue These – Encounter, initially aired in Japan on April 3, 2018. The series’ impact extended beyond the country due to Viz Media’s Haikasoru imprint licensing and releasing the original novel series in English.
However, it was the late director Noboru Ishiguro and Kitty Film Mitaka Studio who first brought the anime series to life. It experienced more than a decade-long journey of adaptation and yielded many installments from 1988 to 2000.

According to Crunchyroll, the plot revolves humanity’s expansion into space and the forming of two rival nations who have been at war for 150 years. Two protagonists, Reinhard von Logengramm and Yang Wen-li, emerge to lead their armies and alter history’s course.
