A new poster for Wonka sees Timothée Chalamet and Hugh Grant take audiences to candy land.
Via ComicBook, Warner Bros. has released a new poster for Wonka, the upcoming prequel movie set before the events of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The poster sees Chalamet’s Wonka sitting around a colorful assortment of candy and other objects, while Grant as an Oompa-Loompa and Calah Lane as a character named Noodle are pictured around him.

What is Wonka about?
“Starring Timothée Chalamet in the title role, this irresistibly vivid and inventive big screen spectacle will introduce audiences to a young Willy Wonka, chock-full of ideas and determined to change the world one delectable bite at a time—proving that the best things in life begin with a dream, and if you’re lucky enough to meet Willy Wonka, anything is possible,” the synopsis reads.
Wonka is directed by Paul King, who is known for helming 2014’s Paddington and 2017’s Paddington 2. King wrote the screenplay with Simon Farnaby, while David Herman, Alexandra Derbyshire, and Luke Kelly serve as producers.
Starring in the movie with Chalamet, Grant, and Lane are Keegan-Michael Key, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Sally Hawkins, Mathew Baynton, Rowan Atkinson, Olivia Colman, Natasha Rothwell, and Jim Carter.
Wonka marks the third theatrically released movie based on Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which was published in 1964. Gene Wilder played the role of Willy Wonka in 1971’s Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, which was directed by Mel Stuart. Tim Burton then cast Johnny Depp as the infamous chocolatier in 2005’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
After releasing in the United Kingdom on December 8, Wonka arrives in United States theaters on December 15, 2023, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
