The pizza party is on Blumhouse as its Five Nights at Freddy’s movie is set to have a great start at the box office.
Freddy’s (Not) Dead
According to Deadline‘s exclusive, It’s increasingly likely the adaption of Scott Cawthon’s hit horror game series will take in around $40 million on its box office debut, which would make it the second most successful Fall debut behind Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
After The Exorcist: Believer’s underwhelming start (and critical kicking) saw it bring in under $30 million on its debut, Blumhouse found some critical success with the streaming-only time travel slasher Totally Killer, but Freddy Fazbear and company look like they’ll be the Blumhouse box office Kings this Halloween despite also appearing on streaming platform Peacock day and date with a theatrical release.
The film follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be easy to make it through.
Five Nights at Freddy’s stars Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Matthew Lillard, Piper Rubio, Kat Conner Sterling, Mary Stuart Masterson, Lucas Grant, and Jessica Blackmore. The screenplay comes from Tammi, Seth Cuddeback, and Scott Cawthon, the latter of whom created the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise. Cawthon and Jason Blum both serve as producers.
You can see Five Nights at Freddy’s in theaters and on Peacock from October 27, 2023.
