It’s been announced that the Mean Girls musical movie adaptation will now be hitting theaters in early 2024 instead of coming to Paramount+, with the release date now being known.
What is the Mean Girls musical movie adaptation theatrical release date?
Deadline has revealed that the Mean Girls musical adaptation will be released theatrically on Friday, January 12, 2024 instead of premiering on Paramount+ as was originally planned. This is similar to Paramount’s approach to last year’s horror movie Smile, which ended up debuting in theaters instead of on the streaming platform.
The Mean Girls musical movie adaptation is being directed by Arturo Perez and Samantha Jayne from a script written by Tina Fey. Lorne Michaels is producing with Fey, Erin David, Caroline Maroney, and Micah Frank for Broadway Video, along with Eric Gurian and Jeff Richmond for Little Stranger.
It stars Angourie Rice, Reneé Rapp, Auli’i Cravalho, Jaquel Spivey, Tina Fey, Tim Meadows, Jenna Fischer, Busy Philipps, Avantika, Mahi Alam, Christopher Briney, Bebe Wood, Ashley Park, Connor Ratliff, and Jon Hamm.
The original Mean Girls movie came out in 2004 and became an enduring hit. The musical, which is based on the movie, premiered in Washington D.C. in 2017 and made its Broadway debut in 2018.
