Saw X Teaser Trailer Riffs on Operation Board Game

It’s no exaggeration to say the Saw X marketing department has been doing a cracking job so far with some fun, inventive posters being doled out in the last few weeks. Now we have a cool little teaser trailer having some more fun with the Saw name.

The Saw social media account released a teaser video not of movie clips or even a trailer from the movie itself, but instead showed a short clip of a Saw version of the classic family board game Operation dubbed Saw-peration.

The patient is the Jigsaw puppet, and the pieces to pick out aren’t anatomical, but instead little nods to the Saw series such as a cassette tape in the abdomen, a jigsaw piece, a key in the eye socket, and a syringe in the arm. Each represents particular traps from the series. No prizes for guessing why one of the legs contains a saw.

Be Careful Who You Put Under the Knife

As with previous marketing materials, there’s meaning behind the choices. the plot of Saw X, which takes place between the events of the first and second films in the long-running horror franchise, sees John Kramer, aka Jigsaw, head to Mexico for a risky operation that might cure his cancer. It turns out to be a scam and Jigsaw metes out some barbaric and no doubt inventive justice on those responsible.

Director Kevin Gruetert has promised this tenth entry will be a bit different from previous entries and focus more on John Kramer than ever before.

Saw X is in theaters on September 29.
