Netflix has been busy announcing its slate of upcoming movies from big hitters to small-scale fare, and there was an interesting horror reveal in there.
Paco Plaza, who directed the Spanish horror movie series [REC] alongside Jaume Balagueró, returns to the world of his previous Netflix venture Veronica with a prequel called Hermana Muerte (aka Sister Death).
In post-war Spain, Narcisa (Aria Bedmar), a young novice with supernatural powers, arrives at a former convent, now a school for girls, to become a teacher. As the days go by, the strange events and increasingly disturbing situations that torment her will eventually lead her to unravel the terrible skein of secrets that surround the convent and haunt its inhabitants
Sister Death Netflix Release Date
Veronica star Consuelo Trujillo returns to play the titular Sister Death, and the cast is rounded out by Almudena Amor, Luisa Merelas, Chelo Vivares, and Maru Valdivielso.
Netflix confirmed the movie would get a release in October, but there’s no exact date just yet.
Sitges Film Festival will be the site of the film’s premiere, however, with Sister Death opening the festival on October 5, 2023. So it certainly won’t be before then.
