The US may have rebooted its version of Godzilla in 2014, but should you ever forget the big scaly one’s true American form, the 1998 Godzilla is getting a 4K SteelBook release for its 25th anniversary.
Yes, Roland Emmerich’s floptastic reimagining of Godzilla is 25 years old this year, and what better way to experience Matthew Broderick looking like an intelligent lost puppy for over two hours than in dazzling 4K UHD?
The movie will be sold in a 4K, Blu-Ray, and digital bundle with a SteelBook case that’s almost as chunky as 2014’s Godzilla’s thighs.
Godzilla 4K SteelBook 25th Anniversary Edition
Godzilla 1998 charts a mysterious set of disasters occurring across the globe that plots the course for a humongous mutated lizard on its way to New York. Once there, the giant beast causes all manner of carnage, and it has a few Godzookis along the way.
The much-maligned attempt at Westernizing the radioactive kaiju does have some great moments of spectacle in it, especially those first scenes of Godzilla attacking New York.
You can buy the Godzilla 4K SteelBook from October 10, 2023.
