Disney’s 2003 film Freaky Friday has generated plenty of fans over the years. With Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan as a dynamic on-screen mother/daughter duo, you can’t go wrong. Apparently, the body-swapping movie tugged at the heartstrings of Oscar-winning director Quentin Tarantino too.
The film’s director, Mark Waters, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter on how Quentin Tarantino is a massive fan of the film — as well as the House of Blues audition scene.
“One time, I got cornered at a party by Quentin Tarantino, who outlined in great detail shot by shot that sequence of the House of Blues to me. He was like outlining why it was a genius scene and a perfect ending for the movie, and I was like, ‘This is cool man. Quentin Tarantino was like, fan-geeking me.'”
Quentin Tarantino Liked ‘Take Me Away’ and Others Did Too
While the song Take Me Away was originally by the Australian punk rock band Lash, Freaky Friday helped popularize it during that final scene.
Last week, pop band Meet Me @ the Alter covered the song for the deluxe version of their upcoming album Past // Present // Future. The band said in a press release Lash had a big influence on them growing up.
As the sequel is on the way, we can only hope a throwback of Take Me Away will be featured.
