Craig Mazin Removes Name from Borderlands Movie Amid Post-Production Changes

Craig Mazin has taken his name off of the Borderlands movie as the film goes through post-production.

This science fiction action comedy movie based on the video game series has been in post-production for two years, having wrapped filming in June 2021. The film is directed by Eli Roth, who previously helmed films like Death Wish and The House With a Clock in Its Walls. In early 2023, the film went through reshoots directed by Deadpool and Terminator: Dark Fate director Tim Miller.

Mazin, who co-wrote the screenplay and has also created the HBO series Chernobyl and The Last of Us, has taken his name off the film. According to the WGA (via World of Reel), his screenwriting credit will be under the pseudonym Joe Crombie.

The script has gotten uncredited work from writers Aaron Berg, Chris Bremner, Zak Olkewicz, Tony Rettenmaier, Juel Taylor, Oren Uziel, and Sam Levinson, who recently worked on HBO’s The Idol.
