After a little over a month at the box office, the Peacock release date for Focus Features’ Book Club: The Next Chapter has been announced. The star-studded movie will be available for streaming this Friday, June 30, exclusively on Peacock.
Book Club: The Next Chapter wasn’t a theatrical success, as it only earned a gross of $27 million at the global box office, which is $70 million less than its predecessor’s box office haul.
What is Book Club 2 about?
“It follows our four best friends Diane, Vivian, Sharon, and Carol, as they take their book club to Italy for the fun girls trip they never had,” reads the synopsis. “When things go off the rails and secrets are revealed, their relaxing vacation turns into a once-in-a-lifetime cross-country adventure.”
The sequel is once again being directed by Bill Holderman from a screenplay he co-wrote with Erin Simms. Joining the legendary quartet are returning cast members Andy Garcia, Don Johnson, and Craig T. Nelson. Additional cast includes newcomers Giancarlo Giannini, Hugh Quarshie, and Vincent Riotta.
Book Club: The Next Chapter is produced by Holderman and Simms, with Brad Weston, Trish Hofmann, Enzo Sisti, and Andrew Duncan set as executive producers. Endeavor Content financed and produced while Focus Features distributed the film in the U.S.; Universal Pictures International distributed internationally.
