Live-Action Bambi Remake Finds Oscar-Winning Director

The live-action Bambi remake from Disney has gotten an Oscar-winning director.

Who is the live-action Bambi director?

Sarah Polley is in talks to direct the new live-action Bambi movie, according to a report from Deadline. She recently won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay this year for her movie Women Talking. Polley previously wrote and directed the Oscar-nominated film Away From Her and has gone on to direct movies like Take This Waltz and Stories We Tell.

The live-action Bambi movie is currently in very early development. It will be written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider, Captain Marvel) and Lindsey Beer. The film will be a remake of the 1942 Disney animated film about a young deer struck by tragedy who grows up with a rabbit named Thumper and a skunk named Flower.

Bambi will be the latest in a series of Disney’s live-action remakes of animated classics, with the most recent being The Little Mermaid, with the next one being Snow White, arriving next year.
