Heretic: Hugh Grant in Talks to Star in A24’s Next Horror Movie

According to Deadline, Golden Globe winner Hugh Grant is in negotiations for the leading role in A24’s upcoming horror movie Heretic. The project hails from A Quiet Place scribes Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. This would mark Grant’s first horror project in three decades since 1993’s Night Train to Venice. Five years prior, he also starred in Ken Russell’s The Lair of the White Worm.

What is Heretic about?

Heretic will be written and directed by Beck and Woods. The filmmaking duo recently collaborated on Adam Driver-led sci-fi thriller 65. Beck and Woods also served as executive producers in 20th Century Studios’ film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Boogeyman (now in theaters.)

The project will reportedly follow the story of “two young women of faith who are lured into a cat-and-mouse game in the home of an eccentric man.”

Grant most recently starred in Paramount Pictures’ surprise blockbuster movie Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. He will next be seen in Warner Bros.’ musical prequel Wonka, which will center around the origins of the titular chocolate factory owner from Roald Dahl’s 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In addition, the Four Weddings and a Funeral vet is also attached to star opposite Kate Winslet in HBO’s upcoming miniseries The Regime.
