After news of more abuse allegations surfacing against Jonathan Majors broke, the actor and his attorney have stated that there is a video that proves he did not strike his ex-girlfriend.
TMZ has observed documents from Majors’ attorney, Priya Chaudhry, which were filed on April 19. They state that the man who drove Majors and his ex-girlfriend the night of the alleged assault witnessed her assaulting Majors. Not only that, but the actor reportedly says that the driver will testify that he never hit the alleged victim “in any way at any time, or even raised his voice.” Rather, Majors and his attorney claim that the driver saw the alleged victim “hitting, scratching, and attacking” the actor, leading him to ask the driver to stop the car so that he could exit.
Chaudhry also says in the document that there are hours of security video footage of Majors’ ex-girlfriend that show her clubbing and using her right hand afterwards, which she claimed was injured. The attorney mentions that none of the texts sent from the alleged victim to Majors afterwards accuse him of injuring her or “mention any discomfort from alleged injuries.” The documents state that there is body cam footage that shows the police who arrived after Majors called 911 interviewing his ex-girlfriend and “clearly coaching her to say that Mr. Majors grabbed her by the throat.”
Jonathan Majors is facing three counts of third-degree assault, second-degree aggravated harassment, three counts of third-degree attempted assault, and second-degree harassment. Police cite that Majors allegedly struck “[the victim] about the face with an open hand, causing substantial pain and a laceration behind her ear.” Additionally, he allegedly grabbed her hand and neck, “causing bruising and substantial pain.”
A previous report from ABC News notes that Majors made the 911 call himself, which police responded to. The call was “purportedly over concerns about his girlfriend, whom he lives with in a penthouse apartment in the Chelsea neighborhood.” After police arrived, the girlfriend told officers they were in a taxi together after returning from a bar and that Majors physically attacked her. Majors was then arrested after police noticed marks on the woman.
Majors’ criminal defense lawyer stated that Majors is “provably innocent” and expects charges to be dropped due to multiple witnesses and written retractions from the victim. However, that hasn’t happened yet.
