Twisters: Daisy Edgar-Jones to Star in Twister Reboot

The upcoming reboot of the hit adventure film Twister is adding a star, as The Hollywood Reporter notes that Daisy Edgar-Jones is in negotiations to appear in the upcoming film.

Edgar-Jones (Normal People, Fresh, Where the Crawdads Sing) will star in the film as a former storm chaser who works a desk job after surviving a terrifying tornado. However, she will be forced back out onto the field. No other information about Edgar-Jones’ character was made available yet.

According to the report, the upcoming film will not be a sequel, despite rumors otherwise, and will instead be a “new chapter” with no plans on bringing back older characters.

Twisters will be directed by Lee Isaac Chung (Minari) and has a July 19, 2024, release date, matching it against both Transformers: A New Generation and Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts in the theaters. Mark L. Smith (The Revenant) is set to write the script for the reboot, with producer Frank Marshall (Jurassic Park) also attached.

Twister was directed by Jan de Bont and followed storm chasers Bill Harding and Dr. Joanne Harding, who are in the midst of finalizing their divorce. The pair reunites during a severe tornado outbreak in Oklahoma, where they’re able to test their weather-tracking device that would improve lead times on tornado warnings.

The film was both a critical and commercial success, with a worldwide gross of over $495 million at the box office. It also starred Cary Elwes, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Alan Ruck, Todd Field, and more.
