According to Deadline, Oscar nominees Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield are currently in negotiations for the leading roles in StudioCanal’s upcoming dramedy titled We Live In Time. Their casting news comes after Pugh and Garfield recently presented Best Screenplay Award together at the 2023 Academy Awards.
We Live In Time will be directed by John Crowley (Brooklyn) from a screenplay written by Nick Payne. Further details about its plot and characters are still being kept under wraps. However, the outlet has described the project as “a funny, deeply moving, and immersive love story.” Production is expected to begin later this year.
The film will be produced by Sunny March, with StudioCanal executives Ron Halpern and Joe Naftalin tapped to oversee the project in behalf of the company.
Pugh gained recognition for her back-to-back breakout roles in Ari Aster’s Midsommar and Greta Gerwig’s Little Women. For her performance as Amy March in the latter, she earned her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In 2021, she joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where she appeared as Yelena Belova in the Black Widow movie and Hawkeye series. She will next be seen in a number of high-profile features including Oppenheimer, Dune: Part Two, and Thunderbolts.
Garfield is best known for his performances in acclaimed dramas such as The Social Network, Never Let Me Go, Hacksaw Ridge, Under the Silver Lake, and The Eyes of Tammy Faye. For his leading performance as Rent creator Jonathan Larson in Tick, Tick…BOOM!, he received his second Oscar nomination for Best Actor. At the end of 2021, he got the chance to reprise his fan-favorite role as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man from his Amazing Spider-Man movies in Sony’s blockbuster hit Spider-Man: No Way Home.
