Having recently helmed the ensemble drama This is Where I Leave You, Shawn Levy has, according to TheWrap signed on to direct a new take on the “1,001 Arabian Nights” story “Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves.” The film version, titled Forty Thieves, will follow a character named Allen and a few actors have already tested for the role. According to the outlet, those names include Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games), Evan Peters (X-Men: Days of Future Past and Dan Stevens (The Guest).
Set up at 20th Century Fox, Forty Thieves is likened to Guardians of the Galaxy in its overall tonal blend of comedy and adventure. The screenwriter, however, has not yet been revealed.
Of those three names, only Stevens has worked with Levy before. He plays Sir Lancelot in the upcoming Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, set to hit theaters December 19.
