While doing promotions for his Christmas Carol musical adaptation Spirited, Ryan Reynolds opened up about his dream of including a musical number in a Deadpool movie. This led him to reveal his initial plans of actually making a Christmas-themed Deadpool movie.

Speaking with Big Issue, Reynolds confirmed that he, along with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, had previously co-written a Christmas movie centered around Deadpool four years ago. However, the project never moved forward due to Disney and Fox merger.
“I would love to see a song and dance number in a Deadpool movie,” Reynolds said. “Four years ago, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and I wrote a Christmas movie starring Deadpool. But it got lost in the shuffle of Disney acquiring Fox, and it never got made.”
He added, “Maybe one day we’ll get to make that movie. It’s not a musical, but it’s a full Deadpool Christmas movie. So one day.”
Deadpool 3 is being written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick from a previous draft by Bob’s Burgers duo Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously assured fans that it will remain an R-rated film just like the first two movies, which would make it the studio’s first movie with the said mature rating.
It will serve as the first movie in the Deadpool film series that will be released following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. It is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 6, 2024.
