In a series of tweets that rounded up some of the production gifts given out after the film wrapped — including hats, t-shirts, and more — the title of Godzilla and Kong can be seen, with many fans assuming that to be the new official name of the film.

Of course, Godzilla and Kong would be a big departure from Godzilla vs. Kong, which makes sense given the fact that the sequel is reported to see Godzilla and Kong team up to take down other monstrous foes.

According to its official synopsis, the Godzilla vs Kong sequel will see the titular frenemies teaming up once again to go up against an unknown threat, while the epic adventure will also dig deeper into their respective origins. The film is currently slated to arrive in theaters on March 15, 2024.

“This latest entry follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence — and our own,” reads the synopsis. “The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”

The upcoming fifth installment to the blockbuster franchise is once again being directed by Adam Wingard. The Godzilla vs. Kong sequel will be led by Legion star Dan Stevens as he reunites with Wingard following their 2014 thriller film The Guest.
