Described as a fast-paced action thriller, The Beekeeper “follows a man’s personal journey of vengeance which takes on national stakes after he is revealed to be a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as the Beekeepers,” reads the synopsis.
The film is being directed by David Ayer from a screenplay written by Kurt Wimmer. It will be produced by Statham and Wimmer, along with Bill Block for Miramax and Chris Long for Cedar Park Studios.
Statham will next be seen in forthcoming action sequels The Expendables 4, Meg 2: The Trench, and Fast X. Ayer was first recognized for writing Antoine Fuqua’s crime drama Training Day and 2001’s The Fast and the Furious. His directorial film credits include Street Kings, End of Watch, Fury, Bright, and The Tax Collector.
