Report: Dwayne Johnson Fought for Henry Cavill to Be in Black Adam

Despite no appearances at San Diego Comic-Con, fans still believe that Henry Cavill will be appearing in the upcoming Black Adam film as Superman. A recent report might also have confirmed that as the case, and pointed to Dwayne Johnson as the reason why.

During a recent episode of the Marvelvision podcast, former editor-in-chief of Birth. Movies. Death. Devin Faraci revealed that not only is Cavill set to return as Superman in the film, but that it’s because of Dwayne Johnson fighting so hard for him to do so.

“Yeah. It’s not, like, specific. It’s all behind-the-scenes stuff that I thought was kind of fascinating, which is that the reason why… Henry Cavill has returned as Superman in Black Adam is because The Rock demanded it,” said Faraci. “Like, he went hard, full-court press on Warner Bros., and made them go to Henry Cavill and they had to sign a new deal with Henry Cavill, including saying they were gonna develop a new Superman movie… And it was all because The Rock insisted.”

Aside from the mention on the podcast, noted Twitter user and insider “ViewerAnon” also seemed to hint at some big news from Cavill, telling fans that they would happy with DC’s upcoming slate of films if they are Cavill fans. Similarly to Faraci, the Twitter user also said that Dwayne Johnson was a major factor for this, saying he was “insistent” that things be figured out.

“Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods — and imprisoned just as quickly — Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world,” says the synopsis.

Joining Johnson is Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman. Other cast members include Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui, Mo Amer, and Uli Latukefu in undisclosed roles.
