A much-anticipated action movie is hitting Netflix later this week.
In a matter of days, the streaming service will release The Gray Man starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas, among others. Netflix reportedly invested more than $200 million in the project, aiming to create a new franchise on a “James Bond-level.”
When to Watch The Gray Man
The Gray Man will hit Netflix at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT on Friday, July 22. Based on Mark Greaney’s 2009 thriller novel, the story follows a former CIA operative named Court Gentry. In the story, Gentry turns into a freelance assassin after a mission goes downhill. The streaming release of The Gray Man has been accompanied by a short theatrical run in selected theaters. The star-packed cast also features Jessica Henwick, Wagner Moura, Alfre Woodard, and Regé-Jean Page. Additionally, Billy Bob Thornton, Julia Butters, Dhanush, Scott Haze, Calla Mulvey, Eme Ikwuakor, Michael Gandolfini, Sam Lerner, as well as Robert Kazinsky, and DeObia Oparei.
“Court Gentry is known as The Gray Man—a legend in the covert realm, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible, and then fading away,” reads the synopsis by publisher Jove. “And he always hits his target. But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world. And in their eyes, Gentry has just outlived his usefulness. Now, he is going to prove that for him, there’s no gray area between killing for a living—and killing to stay alive.”

Avengers: Endgame filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo directed The Gray Man from a script written by Joe Russo with “a polish” by AGBO’s Co-Presidents of Story and Marvel Cinematic Universe writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. AGBO’s the Russo Brothers and Mike Larocca produced the movie along with Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum for Roth Kirschenbaum.
