Game of Thrones Star Lena Headey Cut From Thor: Love and Thunder

Actress Lena Headey was originally set to appear in the upcoming Marvel Studios film Thor: Love and Thunder, according to a report from Variety.

The news comes via a lawsuit that Headey is currently facing at the hands of her former U.K. agency Troika. The lawsuit alleges that Headey didn’t pay various commission fees for roles in films, one of which was apparently Thor: Love and Thunder.

Variety’s report notes that Headey does not appear in the upcoming film, but in Headey’s official legal response to the lawsuit, she mentions that director Taika Waititi approached her directly for the role. However, it’s unclear exactly what happened to see Headey’s role removed from the upcoming film.

Headey’s removal from the film is just one of many cameos that were seemingly axed from the final cut of the film, as Christian Bale recently noted in an interview with ComicBook.com that Peter Dinklage and Jeff Goldblum both filmed scenes for the film, but did not appear in the final version.

Thor: Love and Thunder features MCU alums Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, who is now taking on the mantle of the Mighty Thor and will be wielding the iconic Mjolnir. Oscar winner Christian Bale will also be making his return to the superhero genre, as he signs on for the villainous role of Gorr the God Butcher.

Additional cast includes franchise alums such as Jaime Alexander as Sif, Taika Waititi as Korg, and Guardians of the Galaxy stars like Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill, Karen Gillan’s Nebula, Sean Gunn’s Kraglin, and Vin Diesel’s Groot.

Thor: Love and Thunder is once again being directed by Waititi (Jojo Rabbit) from a script he co-wrote with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Someone Great), which will be the follow-up to Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok.
