Robert Lorenz has been working with Clint Eastwood for nearly twenty years, first as an assistant director and then as a producer on many of his films including this year’s Jersey Boys and American Sniper with Bradley Cooper, which will be released in select cities on Christmas Day.
In 2012, Lorenz had a chance to direct Clint in his directorial debut, the baseball drama Trouble with the Curve, co-starring Amy Adams, and now Warner Bros. has gotten back on board with Lorenz to have him direct Past Due, an action flick based on Thompson Evans’ Blacklist script.
It’s described as a “female version of David Cronenbergs ‘A History of Violence'” but unlike “Curve,” Past Due will not be produced by Eastwood’s Malpaso Productions (which is based at Warners). Instead, Lorenz will be producing along with Evan’s manager Rich Freeman and Code Entertainment.
Lorenz has produced 13 of Clint Eastwood’s recent films including Mystic River and Letters from Iwo Jima, for which Lorenz received two Oscar nominations.
